Geometry comes from two Greek words, geo, meaning earth and metri meaning measurement. Geometry means earth measurement and it is mathematics of shapes. Geometry was first developed on around 300 B.C by an ancient philosopher named Euclid. His book entitled the Element is used as a basic test in Geometry. Geometry deals with measurement. Measurement can mean an evaluation or a basis of comparison or a unit specified by a scale. Rene Descartes was the first mathematician to connect geometric figures and equation.
